Students and staff can now access non-emergency medical care on campus at Sallie B. Howard!
When a student or staff member gets sick at school, a trained health coordinator will work with an online provider – Health-e-schools – via safe and secure computer equipment to treat that patient during the school day.
We can treat illnesses and help students manage known medical conditions.
This on-site, same-day care means having students and staff miss less time at school and enables us to address symptoms early to prevent the spread and severity of an illness.
The telehealth program was made possible by a grant from the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson.
If Coordinator can address patient’s medical needs without seeking a provider, student receives care and is sent back to class (if no fever is detected).
Insurance, including all major carriers, Medicaid and NC Health Choice, will be billed just as it is when you visit your primary physician.
No money will be exchanged in the telehealth clinic; copays will be billed. If the child is uninsured, a sliding scale fee will be charged.
NOTE: SBHS is not responsible for insurance costs or medical payments.
Convenience: Same-day care without having to make an in-person visit.
Prescriptions can be sent directly to your pharmacy.
Parents can join their child’s online visit without leaving work.
Reduced Absenteeism: Services through the school means students and staff may miss less time at school due to minor illness.
Improved Wellness: Quick and convenient access to care supports our school’s overall safety and well-being goals.
