EC Resource Teacher

Sallie B. Howard School of Arts and Science — a K-12 National Blue Ribbon free public charter school in Wilson, NC – has an immediate opening for a qualified EC resource teacher in the elementary grades. Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in special education and be licensed or eligible for license as an elementary school EC teacher.

Additional skills and requirements include:

  • Develop Individual Education Programs (IEP) for students with disabilities; implement the IEP; and use diagnostic information obtained from tests and other assessment procedures to update IEP’s as needed.
  • Solid understanding of state curriculum standards and experience in closing the achievement gap.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, innovative lessons that allow students to grow academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Effective classroom management.
  • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Provide documentation of students’ progress and routinely communicate that progress to parents.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • A team player and an attitude of flexibility.
  • Willing to engage in parent and community outreach.
