Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts & Education — a free, public charter school serving over 1,000 K-8 students in Wilson, NC (with a high school opening in 2020) – is seeking a skilled educator in the field of Theatre Arts to join our award-winning Theatre Program.
Ideal candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree (a Master’s is desirable) in Theatre Arts, preferably with a concentration in Technical Theatre, demonstrate a record of notable achievement in their field and be able to teach the basics of acting. The selected teacher will be a part of a three-person team and will instruct students in grades K-5 in General Theatre and lead Technical Theater classes for students in grades 6-12. The teacher will also serve as technical director of all school shows, and will work collaboratively with the team on show designs, production process and co-teaching.
Applicants should have an equal passion for theatre as well as they do for training and developing students of all ages. We are looking for a visionary who builds capacity in students so that they may function
independently and learn lifelong skills that will aid them in future acting/theatre careers. Candidate should be ready to teach a demo lesson.
