Right after entering the meeting did you select “Join Audio” on the lower left-hand corner of the menu bar? If not, select “Join Audio” in the menu bar.

Restart your mobile device.

We make efforts to record our Zoom lessons. Teachers will send out the link to their lesson recordings through the Remind app.

Download the “Remind: School Communication” app from the App Store (iPhones) or the Play Store (Android)
Create an account. You’ll need an email address or phone number for this step. After you enter your information, you’ll be prompted to finish setting up your account.

GENERAL

Contact your teacher by sending them a message on the Remind app.

Online class schedules are on the salliebhowardschool.com website. From the homepage, click “At Home Learning” and then the “Grade Level Schedules” tab.

Be on time. Come a few minutes early and check your tech before class.
Avoid noise and distractions. Set up your device in a well-lit area away from noise and distractions (siblings, pets, television).
Student videos will not be permitted This is to respect online privacy.
Student sound will be muted. Teacher may unmute when needed.
Sit in one location. Don’t walk around with your device.
Listen closely.
Active participation. Be focused and pay attention just like you would in a classroom.
Use chat box. Write your questions for the teacher here. Teacher may unmute you to speak your question.
Maximize learning time and minimize the need for breaks by having a cup/bottle of water to drink with you and using the bathroom before class.

No. Attempts to speak with a teacher during Zoom meetings is prohibited and a distraction to the class. Reach out to the teacher on Remind to schedule time to talk. Your patience is much appreciated in these unprecedented times.

BORROWING A SCHOOL DEVICE

Parent/guardians of a SBH student can request to borrow a non-cellular device from the school in order to access online classes. Priority consideration for devices goes to households with absolutely no devices (ie, laptops, desktops, tablets) in the home. Email parents@sallieb.net

SBH will lend one (1) device per household, regardless of the number of SBH students in the home. Parents are responsible for the care and management of this device.

WIFI ACCESS

If you do not have WiFi in the home, you can explore the following options:

Spectrum is offering free internet access and WiFi for 60 days for new Pre-K to 12 and college student households. Call 855-243-8892 to sign up or visit https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/coronavirus-internet-offer-students/.
Call your local cable provider (Greenlight, CenturyLink, etc) and ask about special offers or assistance with WiFi access.
Greenlight has a special program offering basic WiFi access for $10 a month. Call 252-399-2200 for details.
Greenlight has several free hotspots in Wilson. To locate a hotspot near you, click here: https://gis.wilsonnc.org/CommunityMaps/greenlighthotspots.
