In August 2020, SBHS will open the Sallie B. Howard High School of Arts and Science, a free, public charter school offering a rigorous academic and Biotech program as well as intensive study in Music, Dance, Visual Art and Theatre Arts. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for college, the workforce or a career in the arts and sciences.

The high school features:

To succeed at the high school level, students should:

  • Desire a career in the arts or sciences.
  • Possess strong study habits.
  • Be willing to dedicate extensive time each week to practice and rehearsals.
  • Maintain solid writing skills.
  • Be able to successfully balance academic classes with arts/biotech studies.
  • Have a clean behavior record
The high school will open with 9th and 10th grade and add 11th and 12th grades in subsequent years.

In August 2020, SBHS will open the Sallie B. Howard High School for Biotechnology and the Fine Arts, a free, public charter school offering a rigorous academic and Biotech program as well as intensive study in Music, Dance, Visual Art and Theatre Arts.

Admission into the SBH High School is by audition and interview only. Selected students must demonstrate a proficiency in one of the five disciplines offered. The high school will open with fifty 9th graders and add a grade level each year until the 12th grade. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for college, the workforce or a career in the arts.
