High School of Arts and Science

The Sallie B. Howard High School of Arts and Science is a free, public charter school offering a rigorous academic program and intensive training in biotechnology, music, dance, visual art and theatre arts. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for college, the workforce or a career in the arts and sciences.

Our experienced staff believes in exposing high school students to world cultures beyond the shores of America and beyond our home in NC. As an important part of a student’s education, we offer study abroad tours that involve a competitive selection process.

In addition to your high school diploma, we present you with:

  • Study Abroad Immersion Program
  • General-ed curriculum with honors and AP classes
  • Optional majors in biotechnology, music, dance, theatre and visual art
  • Dual credit-courses with Wilson Community College
  • Low student-to-teacher ratio
