Academic Excellence and Growth

Sallie B. Howard School continues to demonstrate a strong tradition of academic excellence, growth, and student achievement.

During the 2024–2025 school year, we earned our first-ever “A” School Performance Grade with an overall score of 87 and a remarkable growth score of 98.7, placing us among the Top 2% of all schools in North Carolina for academic growth.

Students achieved outstanding End-of-Grade and End-of-Course results, including 79% proficiency in Reading, 89% proficiency in Math, and a 92% high school EOC pass rate. We also celebrated 100% proficiency in both Math I and Math III, as well as 100% proficiency on ACT WorkKeys assessments.

These accomplishments reflect the collective dedication of our students, educators, families, and community partners as we continue our mission of closing the achievement gap one student at a time.
