State legislation governing enrollments for charter schools in NC requires charters to conduct a lottery when the number of enrollment applications received is more than the number of students the school can admit in the classes available.
As a result of the possibility for a high number of new applications SBHS will receive for the 2019-2020 school year and the limited number of seats available for new students to fill each class, new enrollments for next year will be selected by lottery.
A public lottery to select new students for each grade will be conducted on (insert date by Dr. Woodard) at 6pm in the SBHS cafeteria. You are invited to be present to see the lottery conducted and to find out if your child was selected from the lottery to attend SBHS next school year.
Any student not selected from the lottery will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted for enrollment as space becomes available due to parents withdrawing, students not showing up on the first day of school, August 1, 2019 or other changes that may occur.
