Sallie B. Howard School of Arts & Science – a K-12 free public charter school established in Wilson, N.C. in 1997 – is expanding its Career Technical Education (CTE) program and, thus, seeking a licensed instructor to teach Food and Nutrition I and II for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate should hold an Associate’s degree or higher in Family and Consumer Science or a related field with at least one year of cooking experience. Teacher will work in brand new facility dedicated to CTE. Position is Part-Time or Full-Time.

Additional skills and requirements:

• Hold a valid North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in the subject/area of assignment.
• Teach courses in the foods and nutrition CTE curriculum, as per the NC Standard Course of Study.
• Solid understanding of state curriculum standards and experience in closing the achievement gap.
• Develop and deliver engaging, innovative lessons that allow students to grow academically, socially and emotionally.
• Effective classroom management.
• Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
• Provide documentation of students’ progress.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• A team player and an attitude of flexibility.
• Willing to engage in parent and community outreach.
