Sallie B. Howard School of Arts and Science — a K-12 National Blue Ribbon free public charter school in Wilson, NC – has an immediate Part-Time or Full-Time opening for a professional, experienced Chorus Teacher.

The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree (BA), possess in-depth knowledge and application of music theory, music history, and singing techniques and be able to teach multiple music genres.

The candidate must be open to teaching students in all grade levels, from elementary to high school. The selected teacher will team up with fellow department professionals to drive the music program while molding and shaping young students to increase their career opportunities in the art form.

Together, the Arts Dept will produce three major annual events for the school: one winter performance, an annual dance festival, and work in collaboration with the theatre teachers on the annual musical. Besides school events, the performing arts teachers are expected to take students to competitions, festivals, and parades. Our school is also involved with community events by invitation and at the instructors’ discretion. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid teaching license or eligibility for it is a plus.
• Minimum of 1+ year of instruction experience
• A video or montage of previous students’ work is required.
