Sallie B. Howard School of Arts & Science – a K-12 free public charter school established in Wilson, N.C. in 1997 – is seeking a professional, experienced Dance Teacher who is passionate about dance and dedicated to student success. 

The SBH Dance Department is a competitive dance program training students in all grade levels. The ideal Dance Teacher candidate should possess in-depth knowledge and application of ballet techniques and at least one more dance style, dance terminology, and knowledge of choreography.

The candidate must be open to teaching students in all grade levels, from elementary to high school. The selected teacher will team up with another professional to drive the dance program while molding and shaping young dancers to increase their career opportunities in the art form.  

Together, the two teachers will produce three major annual events for the school: one winter performance, an annual dance festival, and work in collaboration with the theatre teachers on the annual musical.

Besides school events, the Dance Dept is also expected to take students to dance competitions, festivals and parades. Our school is also involved with community events by invitation and at the instructors’ discretion.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent
• Possession of a valid teaching license or eligibility for it is a plus.
• Minimum of 1+ year of dance instruction experience
• A video or montage of previous choreography work is required.
