Digital Media

Digital Media is a course that introduces students to a basic understanding of media history, production and storytelling. Students will learn the basics of photography, videography, editing, audio, and animation. Students will create individual and group projects using multimedia platforms such as: Keynote, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Animate.

  1. Fill out an application.
  2. Participate in a sit-down interview with the Digital Media Instructor.
  3. Provide an example of your digital projects or written assignments.
  4. Send your written samples, video links or files to Ms. Burnette at TBurnette@sallieb.net. You can also submit a flash drive.
  • Exhibit respect for the teacher and students in the classroom.
  • Handle equipment with care and respect.
  • Do not use computers for social networking of any kind.
  • Do not post information/projects about the class on social media unless instructed by the teacher.

Teri A. Burnette is the Digital Media Teacher for Sallie B. Howard School of Arts & Science. Burnette received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from St. Augustine’s (College) University, Raleigh, NC (2000), and she earned the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Degree in Film Production (2004) in the School of Communications at Howard University, Washington, DC. 

In her own family, Burnette is a third-generation educator. She has had fifteen years (15) of teaching in higher education in the field of Mass Communications in the following academic settings:  Edward Waters College, Jacksonville Fla; Shaw University, Raleigh, NC; and Paine College, Augusta, Ga. 

Additionally, Prof. Burnette uses her creative talents and innate visual strengths as an independent filmmaker. While executing her teaching duties, Burnette continues to write and to create her own film (production) projects, and to work on her professional and cultural interests (including her individual specialized pursuits), under the auspices of her own production company.
